Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026
A world-class event with activities across every district, focused on future goals and driven by the involvement of local organizations and the community
Barcelona is a city of architecture thanks to the beauty and distinctiveness of many of its buildings, and to the way we work together to care for an architectural heritage that spans centuries.
UNESCO-UIA has named it World Capital of Architecture 2026. The architecture, urban planning, and landscaping of a diverse, dense city with limited natural resources and a Mediterranean climate—mild and sunny, yet facing droughts and heatwaves—confront challenges of economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
